This type of roofing is also one of the most widely used, together with African reed roofing. Different types of heather, in rolls, curved and fringed, are a typical product of a Mediterranean shrub. Normally the variety used is Erica scoparia, also called or known as “broom” heather.

Once harvested, gathered and dried, it is mechanically woven and supplied in rolls of variable height and length. It is a very economical, eye-catching and long lasting product.
